    new mercury 60HP fuel connection

I decided to go back to my original plan - at least for now. I do have a pair of three-way valves that I might switch over to at some point. But here are some pics of the way I have it set up now. It went together easily, and required no modifications to the motor. I made a little bracket out of...

    new mercury 60HP fuel connection

Thanks Jim! Having scoped out mounting locations for the 2 valves, I think I'll try this out. Always willing to learn. BTW, I think your SeaRay SPX 190 is the elegant and refined granddaughter of my old SRV 190...

    new mercury 60HP fuel connection

Sorry to be so late in getting back to this - for some reason I haven't been getting notifications that replies have been posted - but belated thanks to you all. JimS123, to be sure I understand your set-up, you have one 3-way valve that selects input from either of two tanks, and then...

    new mercury 60HP fuel connection

Thanks, Juno. I was hoping for an OEM Mercury option that mounts directly to the outboard. Barring that option, I'm thinking about using a connector like the one on my kicker motor (shown in the pic), and figuring out a way to bolt it on the lower cowling of the new 60. But maybe an inline...

    new mercury 60HP fuel connection

I just repowered with a new Mercury 60, and to my surprise there is no quick connect/disconnect fuel fitting. I keep a portable tank in the boat to run the 8HP Mercury kicker motor, and I want to be able to switch the new 60HP from the built-in tank to the portable tank, or the kicker from the...

    Plug unused through-hull?

Replying to my own 10 year old thread with what I think is a pretty good solution. 8AN 6061 aluminum pipe plugs and matching nuts: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0989Z329Z https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076CGBB4L I've gone 10 years with just a PVC pipe plug and PVC nut. No leaks, but...

Need help with re wiring my dads old bass boat

Dingbat, I like your logic. I'm assuming the OP has a starting/house battery and 2 deep cycles for the trolling motor wired in series for 24V for the trolling motor. Would the "secondary" loads in your design simply run off one of the deep cycle batteries? And does it matter whether all three of...

2017 Mercury 30hp EFI water pump question

I'm certainly not the most expert person on this forum, but I think I help with that last question. Muffs are useful sometimes, but I have several motors that will not pee at all on muffs, even though they do fine in the lake or in a barrel. It depends on the muffs themselves as well as the...

    1994 60hp Co-pilot kit

I hope one of the part number gurus can help with this one. My service manual (90-817643-1) refers at page 7B-15 to a "Co-pilot Kit." The Mercury online parts diagram of the "steering handle kit" shows a series of parts in a sub-diagram that comprise the co-pilot kit, but don't give a part...

    1994 60HP won't start

Just closing the loop on this thread for people who may be looking at it later. I think several problems contributed to the not starting/hard starting issue. First, I apparently put the fuel pump together incorrectly after a rebuild. After re-rebuilding the fuel pump, I could see fuel pulsing...

    1994 60HP won't start

So there is indeed an issue with the enricher. When I turn the key to "on" and push it in, I get 12V at the solenoid valve, but nothing happens - no click and it doesn't open. Replacing it seems pretty straightforward, although it is a little tricky to get at and it's not cheap.

    1994 60HP won't start

I must have done something wrong in rebuilding the fuel pump. I could get a lot of gas shooting out when squeezing the bulb, but the pump did not pulse out any gas when cranking. I took it apart, everything looked fine, so I put it back together and now get gas pulsing out when cranking. And it...

    1994 60HP won't start

Chris1956, thanks for the reply. That was my first thought, and I should have mentioned that before I rebuilt the fuel pump, I disassembled and cleaned the carbs. My biggest question is: if I disconnect the "out" hose from the fuel pump, and crank the engine, shouldn't the fuel pump squirt out fuel?

    1994 60HP won't start

Racerone, You got me wondering. This motor has always been hard to start when cold. I just went out and pushed in the key without turning it. There was no click at all. Should I hear a click from the enricher valve opening? Thanks, Lewis

Most of the time. I've tried it both ways.
