New VST filter.
When running WOT at 5500 RPM, RPMs slowly drop to 5000 RPMS.
Hooked up gauge to schrader valve. 35.8 psi all day long inlcluding 5500 RPM until it after 45 seconds and it falls to 30 psi. Tested between the LP pumps and the VST. Get 4.5 PSI at...
2 stroke.
cleaned thes carbs twice. Got all the holes, even pulled out the main and idle jets and soaked them.
Did the lync and sync.
Seems like it will idle then load up and stall. If I try to throttlw thru it it will stumble and run rough.
Maybe i didnt link and sync correctly?
HELP...
2 of the stator wires were .4 OHM
1 was .8 OHM
Green to ground infnity for all.
Does that signify a bad stator?
Does the stator put out voltage I could test?
What should the voltage be leaving the rectifier?
And no I dont have a service manual.
Its not a blown fuse cause it will charge...
1991 Evinrude 48 Special.
I have noticed a lot of unburnt fuel mixture (sludge) running out of the exhaust after a day of boating. I am also experiencing wet plugs though the motor runs fine.
I am assuming the wet plugs have a connection to the unburnt fuel/oil mix.

I have 2001 200 OX66.
I use the boat pretty much every weekend.
However the intial start usually takes about 5 seconds. Sometimes I have to put it just barely in high idle.
Once it starts its good for the rest of the day ie it stats right up no problem.

I finally got the thermostat cover removed.

However in the process of removing the cover I had to torch the plastic cover (FUN!) and some of the debris fell in the 2 ports in the below photo where the arrow is pointing.
Where do these ports go...
I was trying to remove and check the thermostat on my 1991 48 spl. I tried to remove the cover with a cresent wrench and part of the nut broke.
I tried to use a pair of big channel locks to grab the outside but it keeps slipping.
The cover itself is some sort of hard plastic. I have tried...
First off, many thanks to Tashasdaddy for your help. I have taken my 91' Evinrude 48 spl from nothing to running.
I took it for its maiden voyage yesterday. I turned the carb adjustment screw 2.75 turns out as Clymer recommended...perfect idle.
It would run for about a minute then would bog...
1991 Evinrude 48 side mount throttle lever.
My throttle lever is stiff. I want to take the remote control apart and relube everything. I took the 2 philip screws off on the port side but cant seem to get the unit apart. It comes in 2 pieces and joins in the middle.
Are there other screws or...

UPDATE.....
Cleaned the carbs and the motor fired right up.
Here is the problem. It will idle for about a minute or 2 then act like it...
