    Points, Condensers, Coils wiring correct? With pics

    Just trying to make sure I have the wiring set up right. Also trying to make sure the crankshaft is in the right place to set the points (in the third picture). If anything is wrong, please let me know!

    Ok, I replaced the coils, points, condensers and rebuilt the carb on my 1966 Fastwin 18. I'm getting a good spark on both wires with the spark tester. Fuel is getting to the carb. Compression is 100/105. If I crank it 5 or 6 times, it backfires really loudly (manual start). I did notice...

    Fastwin 18 - Looks like I have some work to do....

    Well, yesterday I became the proud owner of my first boat! With it came 2 Evinrude 18HP Fastwin motors. One (I believe a 1966) definitley runs, but not very well. It runs pretty well at mid range RPM, but will pop every so often and lose power. It smokes and smells rich, it shakes, it dies...
