For those so inclined . . . mounted my vintage 70's square shaft helm wheel to my brand new Uflex Rotary Planetary Steering System today. The pics will tell the tale but basically potting the square void with lead free solder. Not rocket science but it seems to work. Why bother? . . . you may...
I am only the second owner of this very basic 85# 2-stroke 15HP (carbed with recoil starter) but it recently decided not to fire the plugs. Don't want to just throw parts at it but need testing ideas.
Not that it matters but it's a tiller-to- remote conversion.
Shopping for a new 4-stroke to replace my 1987 Nissan NS15B 2-stroke. This new Suzuki 20HP with fuel injection caught my eye at 106 lbs. Anyone out there have this motor? I don't want to be disappointed when comparing it to my old 2-stroke. Don't want a carbureted engine any longer so maybe...
Heading to Lake Powell next week. Haven't been up to Hite in a while. Anyone done it since the drought started? Used to be able to get a few miles beyond, into the narrows and the driftwood. Maybe those days are long gone?
Haven't been boating into the Grand Canyon in quite a few years and the last time I got to about point "A" (attached map)
Now, all the high resolution aerial photos show little water east of Sandy Point. Has anyone been in there lately? Seems there would have to be enough water for a shallow...

Is it worth anything if I start parting it? Owner doesn't know if it runs or not. By the looks of the lower unit, it has had a rough life?
Thanks
. . . here's the deal, 1977 SS 18, 150HP Merc 1500 Series OB, restoration started and aborted.
Motor condition unknown (dealer figures it to be 90's era 4-cyl, 4-stroke, fuel injected).
Hull has been stripped (which is what I would have done first anyway) and appears sound and all important...
