Wave breaker, exceptional Smooth and why

I can 't believe how smooth this boat rides. The lake was rough and my wife keeps here wine glasses on a shelve above the kitchen sink. Not one fell off. The extended pontoon cuts through the waves at the bow and the cones on the stern cuts the rear waves.

    Future of pontoon design

When building this pontoon boat, I did a few things I learned in my metal fabrication career. Flex is one of your no no in metal. Aluminum flexes badly. Great for pontoons logs and other pretty things but for a ridge structure , no. A new Bennington came by the other day while I was on my deck...

New design pontoons to pop up on top of water

My tinkering may have found something to pop up pontoons on top of the water. I just installed these cones 23" to 29" on the rear of the pontoons. Why, because I screwed up and did not pay more attention to distributing the weight properly. After putting the now 38' ENJOY back in the water...

    Adding 3rd pontoon

    Adding 3rd pontoon

Re: Adding 3rd pontoon Your right Here's an idea I'm thinking about. Modifying this trailer by turning it upside down and extending the present boat supports to fit the 3rd. Cutting the present axel assembly down and position it in a fixed spot inside like it is now. Then, adding a third low...

    Adding 3rd pontoon

Re: Adding 3rd pontoon Bama, thanks for your comments. I am carring my kids and grand kids on this boat and safety has been my main concern. Most all the weight of this boat is no higher than 3' from the deck. The roof supports weigh 160lbs spread over 19lf. The roof decking weighs the same...

Please don't do this, how my welder takes out dents.

I was having a hole fixed and my welder starting adding air and more air. I had a gauge on it and I went over and looked. 45lbs. I said thats enough air and he said ok. We talked and he explained that is the way they find leaks that no one can find. Be doing it for years. He also explained...

    Adding 3rd pontoon

Bought a new 25' x 25" with strakes for a good deal and ready to install. I am bolting a 2 x 2 x 1/8 sq tube across the existing riser. They will be 36" long for easy access for bolting to the cross member. Think I will use a U bolt type. My floor allows me space above the crossmember to do...

project cabin is looking good and getting close to finishing

Been a while but I am pleased. One thing I have learned is I am difinitely 70 yrs old. Aches and pains and falling off the roof and missing the prop by inches. A learning experience. I think my choices have been correct, I know after seeing the construction of the Party Hut and others that was...

    Is it possible?

Re: Is it possible? This should work...I see this as a big trim tab with you control bouyance and angle by forceing the aluminum cross tubes deeper into the water. 63 pounds of lift per one cubic ft of water displacement. Drag will be less because of lift. The enclosed flat surface in the middle

    Is it possible?

Different design of a Pontoons interest me. But it all comes down to water displacement weight and lift. The faster you can get on top of the water the better. Less Drag the better. I am always working on out of the box ideas here is my latest. I come up with a way to lift the back of my boat...

    Howdy

Lazy this winter but back on my project . Have had a couple questions. What I am using on the sides is Nudo 3mls. Aluminum both sides poly in the middle, buying it for $60 4' x8'. Good on 2' centers. Good on fence also. Rivets very good. Can't bend it in a break but can shear or saw. The floor...

How they make it. Pontoon boats. Interesting if you haven't seen it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgpzqEudTOg&feature=related Some of those sheets look mighty thin for aluminum. With all the probelms Aluminum has with stress cracks leaks and repairs of dents etc, Is aluminum the right choice? 1/8" Aluminum weighs 1.8 lbs a sq ft. The equal in strength is 18...
