There is a TLC Craigslist thread on the general forums but I figured this probably would be a funny one only in the eyes of the force thread. I love my Force to death but this guy...... $800 for a boat with a seized L drive and a shot interior??? Wow...
I have an 1989 Quantum Bass Boat and I assume the same year Force because it is painted in the same color scheme as the boat (red and grey). The sticker is faded so it is impossible to read the numbers aka nothing there just white. Is there another way to tell what model number it is? Its a 1989...
I have a 1989 85 HP and have heard that ethanol in fuel can eat the rubber hoses in old outboards. My question is is it ok to use the high grade Non-ethanol fuel or will the added octane overheat/hurt the powerhead? Thanks
Took the lower unit off to cahnge the water pump and while removing the screws to remove the plastic housing one of the nuts just spins the bolt (Like I need a wrench on the bolt too). But it appears that there is no place to hold the bolt to remove the nut. Any tips or tricks??
Just wondering what peoples "sweet Spot" is for fuel economy. I have a 1989 force 85hp on a 17 foot quantum bass boat. I'm finally over the new boat "I need to go WOT all the time" phase and was curious what would be the average RPM/MPH I should run at to best conserve gas but not go like 2 MPH...
This is what happens when you hit an old railroad tie/log looking thing at wide open throttle. I have an 85 horse and just heard a bang and thought the LU was gone when I looked back and saw this thing bobbing in the water. Must have been floating just under the surface. Didnt see it at all and...
Hey all,
I have a 1989 85HP Force that I bought towards the end of last year. I ran it a bit before storing it. Needless to say I am somewhat new to the boating world but read up this winter on what I need to do this season.
First question,
I drained the lower unit lube today (didnt change it...
Ok First off I must admit I am a bone head. I got to the ramp and it was really busy. I opened up my gas cap and put oil in the tank. Needless to say in the rush and bustle I forgot to replace the cap. It is located right in front of the motor in the splash up area. It is an onboard tank with...
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to clean out a built in onboard gas tank? I tried swishing it out with water, shaking the boat upside down and tapping the bottom but doesnt seems to work. (That was a joke btw :D)
I'm gonna try this again. I now have purchased a 89 force 85HP and the guy I bought it from said the problem was a "high speed module". Took it out today and it get to about 16 MPH and starts to skip is how I could explain it. it shudders and makes a duhn noise that gets faster and faster the...
Just a question,
I am buying a boat with an 89 force 85HP and the owner said that at about 25 MPH it starts to miss. He said it is high speed module. Was just wondering if there is an merit to this and how much the part will cost and how hard it would be to put in. If I need to have a mechanic...
Thanks for all your help guys. I have another part question. What is the gasket called that sits under the powerhead base. Not the head gasket but what the powerhead itself sits on. And anyone know where I could get one?? Or a solution to work around it if I cant find the part? Any help would be...
