Hi,
can anyone tell me where the idle wire connects to on a 1993 8hp mercury, 2 stroke? Pictures would be appreciated. I serviced the carb and it must have came disconnected in the process.
just recently i have lost spark to my bottom two cylinders on my 1989 Johnson gt100HP outboard. i tried swapping coils and get the same result! thinking it could have been the power pak i purchased a new one and installed it but i still have no spark on the bottom two cylinders..... so what...
well today i finished a total rebuild of my 1989 GT 100hp johnson outboard and even converted it from VRO to premix. the reason for the rebuild was because the engine developed a skip and it turned out to be a missing ring on #1 cylinder. the engine now has good compression all the way around of...
i just finished a rebuild yesterday afternoon on my GT 100hp johnson outboard model STLCEM, but a ran into a major set back when mounting the powerhead to the leg, the end of the crankshaft that accepts the input shaft broke out. i have looked on the BRP website and that crankshaft is not...

my 1989 100hp johnson is only running around 3K wot at a speed of 40mph with a 19 pitch prop, now if i were to invest in the the same size prop with a 17" pitch would the motor have better performance or would i loose speed and gain rpm?
can a use a analog voltage tester to test my stator? what is the difference between a DVA and a regular voltage meter? I want to test the stator on a engine i have and only have a digital multimeter and an analog meter.
I have a late model 75hp mercury 3 cylinder outboard probably from the early 80's, it has been stalling at high speed so i cleaned all the carbs and blew them out with compressed air, did a compression test and spark test all were up to specs. after the carb cleaning I saw an improvement but...
I have no spark on a motor i just bought, i'm thinking it's probably the stator, I can't see it both power packs being bad although i've been wrong before. does anyone know if this is a common problem for these engines? what is the best way to test the stator?
