    '72 40Hp Evinrude floods itself

    After sitting the boat will fire right up but immedietly starts pouring gas out the top port of the carb. After it dies i try to start it again with no choke and it wont start and will spill even more gas.... Im a novice looking for tips, thanks!

    I can only find ID help with evinrude outboard motors that are 1980 or later. I believe mine is pre 1980. Serial # J04389 Model # 40153G Can someone please help me ID this? Thanks

    79' 40HP Evinrude outboard wont fire

    Sat for 2 years. Flywheel turns, but wont fire. - Fresh gas - New Battery - Good Spark at the plugs using spark tester - Plugs are moist with fuel after trying to start - Carb seems to be getting fuel, after choking and turning over some fuel spills out - All fuel lines and electrical wires...
