8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

Pull off the what now? Lol! I opened up the fuel pump and cleaned the screen and crud out last week. Thus the carb cleaner. It’s on standby for if I go to the carb.

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

Model and serial number are in a comment above. Don’t believe it’s a convert to a short shaft.

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

I understand I don’t have to run 93 however, that’s what I sell at the marina I manage since we can’t sell non-ethanol fuel within city limits. Stinks but that EPA giving incentives to cities and towns back in the 80’s to run this reformulated gas (RFG) makes it impossible for me to sell it.

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

I had run it previous to this video. But here’s the general idea. Runs smooth until water starts coming out exhaust. I guess this is normal? Doesn’t get much power when I twist the throttle. Pumping the bulb didn’t seem to make any difference.

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

Thanks for the input. I’m not an outboard guy and by videos I had watched I didn’t see water coming out the exhaust. Thus my initial question. Model number J8REEM Serial number G 04556249 Manufacturer date 08/98 Compression top cylinder 105 and it would hold at that pressure Compression bottom...

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

Lower compression could possibly show a head gasket leak, correct?

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

Update... pulled the plugs, looked in the cylinders, all looks ok. So I’m ruling out cracked cylinder walls.

8hp Johnson water out of exhaust

Hi all. I just picked up an 8hp Johnson short shaft for my Jon boat. Runs at idle ok but no power when in gear and on the gas and runs very rough. I noticed water coming out of the exhaust. I’m no mechanic but that just doesn’t seem right and it seems like I’ve been had. Probably why I’ve got...

    Towable help (older Fuel Beast)

I have an older Fuel Beast. It is in good shape for its age as I have kept it unused in a storage tub for the last 5 years. As luck would have it, my son wants to ride it now. I pulled it out of the tub and the Boston Valve is missing. I have gone to Bass Pro, and a couple other places that sell...

Attention Carb junkies... Electric choke conversion questions

I have a nicely built 5.7 vortec now (see my engine build thread). It runs awesome once it is warm. Idles nice when warm as well. My problem lies with sitting at the dock and being embarrased because i cant get it to start easily after it has sat for a few days. I have the stock Weber 4bbl 600...

Alpha One Gen II Gimbal ring/steering play

I probably already know the answer to the question before i ask it because i've read alot of threads on gimbal ring repair... When i had my outdrive off during motor replacement, i tightened my cinch bolts to the recommended 55lbs. The play was gone... but that was with the drive off. Now that...

    Melonized distributor gear

I'm in the middle of my engine build so i figured now would be a good time to call COmp Cams and see what gear to run on my distributor for their 264 marine cam. The Comp Cams rep said to use a melonized distributor gear. I've looked it up (because he wouldn't tell me what it was) on Summits...

    Building a 350 Vortec motor

Re: Building a 350 Vortec motor Got alot done today along with finding what this motor originally came from... NOT a police interceptor afterall. Block casting number is 10243880... GM Crate motor for trucks/boats, ZZ4 Corvette motor... Only difference is the heads. ALuminum vs. iron. So...

    Building a 350 Vortec motor

Like the title says, i'm building one for my 210 CCR Crownline. Motor bore is stock, intake will be an edelbrock performer, and most everything else will be stock as well. I'm having trouble choosing a camshaft. It is a roller motor so the cam must be hydrualic roller. I will be using a corsa...
