Tried a new Solas HR Titan 4 14X21 today on my 1990 OMC Cobra 4.3L 4bbl. Performed pretty well but I think I'd like a little more hole shot so I'm thinking about ordering a 19". I was turning 4400 RPM at WOT with a speed of 52 MPH (GPS and speedo agree). This is with only me on board and...
Boat is a 1991 18ft Marada with 1990 (pre balance shaft) 4.3 Cobra. I have added Vortec heads and Edelbrock Performer manifold, 1409 carb, and K&N arrestor. I'm estimating HP around 215-225. Current prop is a 14.3 X 21" Solas "Amita" 3 blade aluminum. WOT RPM is right on at 4500-4600 @ 50MPH...
I know there are some threads about this but I was hoping for some specific advise from any experts on the matter. I want to drill vents in my prop in hopes of improving my hole shot. Boat is a 18ft I/O about 230hp (apprx. 2700 lbs). Running a Solas aluminum (Amita 3) three blade 21. WOT is...
Any of you guys that are familiar with the 4.3 upgrade using Edelbrock Performer intake and 1409 carb, is a wedge plate to level up the carb necessary? Just noticed the angle built into my stock 2bbl intake.
Thanks
My new GLM manifolds arrived yesterday and thanks to Bond-o's January 25th post, "My experience with GLM manifolds,....." , the first order of business when I removed them from their boxes was to check the flatness of the sealing faces. Guess what....Not only are the manifold faces not flat...
Would like to get your thoughts on this. What are the pros and cons other than the obvious - weight and cost? Are the aluminums worth the extra cost?
Looking at the GLMs.
Thanks
Sorry to bring up this subject again but I'm hoping to get a few questions answered.
Here goes...
I have a 1990 OMC Cobra 4.3L V6. It is a roller cam engine with 2bbl carb. and is rated at 160 hp. I have a set of 1996 Vortec heads (with rockers). I plan to buy an Edelbrock intake and 4bbl...
OK I'm gonna throw out the 5.7 idea and upgrade my 4.3 to vortec instead. I already have a set of Vortec heads (automotive). Now considering Edelbrock Performer intake and 600 cfm carb (1409). Anybody with experience or thoughts on these Edelbrocks vs stock GM?
Is a gain of 45-50 hp pretty...
Hoping someone can help me identify a merc engine. I am considering buying a 350 mercruiser engine to replace my current 4.3L and I'm trying to confirm that it is a roller cam engine. The serial number is OK281645. It has a two barrel carb. All online parts lists I can find indicate that it...
