Same old 83 Merc headache. I took the lower unit off to chang the impeller and when i took it apart the front hose near the shifter spline came apart. It is clogged at the top end. What does this hose do, is it important, where does it go from there? Will I be able to get to the end where it...
I just replaced the impeller in my 83 Merc 40. Now I have very little water out and won't go into reverse or neutral? Looks like maybe a water hose kinked on the front of the shaft. Possible I messed something up when I put it back together?
I have an 83 Merc 40 I only have spark on one cylinder and won't fire at all. It seems like there is little gas getting to the plugs but gas dripping from carb. Plus it seems it won"t shift into neutral from the console. Help please!
Boat and motor sat for 4yrs without running. I found a small amount of BAD gas in sediment bowl. Have ordered new bowl, filter and seal as well as new plugs. Is that going to be enough or should I have the carb looked at?
