    Yammy 115 2 Stroke Questions

Re: Yammy 115 2 Stroke Questions I have a 115 Yamaha 2 stroke and I really like it. Runs great, great oiling system. It will get my 18 foot bow rider to 45 mph with 3-4 aboard. Lift control button on motor is great when you are working back there no need to run to the front and use lift on...

While trying to see why my cooler box would not open I found out it was rotten. Tore all the vinyl off of the out side and found the whole box was rotten. The wood used was not covered with any protection. So when water got between the vinyl and the wood it just rotted. I dragged my son away...

    Engine Choice?

I am need of an outboard motor for my 16.5 open bow. I have found 2) a dealer fresh rebuilt 1979 Evinrude 100 with warranty. I have also found a 1987 Johnson 120 VRO, rebuilt a couple of years ago with 30 day warranty. The rebuilt 100 is cheaper than the 120. Is the 1979 engine obsolete or is it...

75 HP Mariner is it too small

I have bought a 17 foot deep vee fibreglass bow rider with a shot Johnson 120. I found a used late 80's 75 hp mariner with oil injection. Will this be too small for this boat. We will just run around the lake, a little fishing, and some tubing/skiing. I have also located a used 130 HP Honda but...

I am looking at used motors I have found a 1998 115 Yamaha, and a 2001 Johnson 130. Which is the better motor. They are the same price. It is going on a 17 deep vee.

    Boat Engine Size Rating

How close does one need to be to the tag on the boat that says how big of motor it will take? I have a 17 foot deep vee with a 120 Johnson, it came new from the dealer that way. The boat tag says it is rated for 105 HP. But it has a 120, that now needs an overhaul. If I put a 150 on there will I...

Johnson VRO120 VS Johnson 140 crossflow

I have bought a boat with a bad motor, the 1985 120 VRO. I have also located a low hour 1982 Johnson 140 cross flow. Would I be better to put the money towards rebuilding the 120, or buy the older 140. It will be cheaper to buy the older motor, but may not be the best thing to do.
