    why small outboards is so unpower?

    I know that scooter 125cc-150cc have 9-12 hp . Why the outboards -like simple 4stroke machines-have only 5(tohatsu 123cc mfs5) or yamaha 6hp/197cc ? Either the china motors duck/scooter 110cc have 8hp. I have one of this.

    main outboard bracket

    I have seen some boats to have a bracket (similar this for auxiliary outboard )for reach the main outboard away from stern for about 1 ft .Why they do that and what is the gain? Maybe for cavitation?

    I have a small tri-hull -like boston whaler- boat 8,5ft and 100 pounds weight(boat only). I'm 220 pounds and the motor is 50 pounds(tohatsu 5hp 4stroke) .If i add some tabs (homemade or smarttabs) will i have smoother flotation or other gain?
