1993 4 stroke changed out waterpump but cant get the coupler/length set properly. Forgot to count the threads before i undid the coupler. Have adjusted it but cant get it set to neutral properly. There isnt an adjustment procedure in the manual that i could find. Thanks
For the life of me I can't disengage the upper shift rod from the lower. Shift mechanism is up and down. have backed off the 10mm locking nut but cant turn the lower shift shaft to disengage from the 10mm "barrel" nut that is attached to the upper shift rod...what am I missing.....manual...

On weekend noticed a slight click while on plane coming from engine, about every 1-2 seconds. Thought I'll check it out this week..... all of a sudden the click becomes a clunk clunk clunk maybe 10 clunks per second.....throttled right off, put in neutral and no clunking...
I have a new 1000amp marine battery, but only had battery cables off a 20-30hp engine (I assume about 8 gauge) othewr than the wire getting hot with cranking, would it also affect how many amps get to the starter? I have a very slow crank speed and think I need to upgrage to a 4 agw battery cables.

Thanks, do you think that welding in connecters like i have drawn in red will do enough to stiffen it or should i also look at modding like "grandpa" suggested?I think I underestimated the strength of the actual hardtop and notice that some movement occurs...
Finished up the fab and mig'ing of the aluminum supports for the hardtop but I'm getting far too much side to side movement for my comfort. thought it would have been stiffer with the side 45's and the front 30's. Fore/aft there is no movement. I'm thinking that i need to connect the tubing...
Don't know quite how to describe this but I know it's common. where ever there is a stainless or aluminum tubing that toouches/flaps against the clear vinyl eventually I get a black make that outlines the tubing.... does that make sense? It even happens with some powdercoated aluminum...
I'm repowering with a 2006 BF150 replacing my 1995 Yamaha. Ignition switch and cables will be replaced but will the shift/throttle binnacle work? I'd love to save a few $$ and use the old yamaha binnacle and cables.....
