Does anyone know if they had problems in old Mercs with the caged bearings? I posted down further and no one knew the answer as to why 3 out of 4 of our bearings have broken. We were at full throttle....heard a "clunk", engine lost power and when taken apart....one piston smoked and bearings...
The motor is a Mercury 800.......80 hp with Thunderbolt ignition. Serial number 3053642...what year is it and how do you tell what year it is by the serial number anyway???<br /><br />Thanks!
:confused: Motor has caged lower connecting rod bearings. Cage is breaking on 3 of 4 bearings. Crank and Rod look okay and are straight......does anyone know why this is happening???
