Why are there really cheap ($35) and really expensive ($150>) voltage regulators on the market? They both look the same on the outside? I had two cheap ones fail in the past year. I went ahead a bought an expensive regulator. I hope this is a good case of "you get what you pay for"
I have a 200 HP merc with a 3 ram trim/tilt. The trim gauge has never been correct. When trimming full down the gauge goes down to zero and starts coming back up to about 1/4 on the gauge before the trim hits zero. So... the sender range is off. I have tried adjusting but the slotted holes don't...

These issues are completely random, and most of the time the tach works just fine.
1. Tach will need zero, hit the trim up or down and the tach bounces to 5K then back to zero when the trim is released.

I removed my trim unit for repair. What is the best replacement for the the little lock pin that holds the large pivot pin in place? SS cotter pin? Drill out for a SS #6 or #8 screw? Or try and find the OEM pin?
