    Repeated impeller failures, help

Impeller is belt driven on underside at front of engine, not in the outdrive. If there is bubbles only on plane then the intake tube? We're planning to take it out this week and to a shop next week so hopefully I can use it the following week when I'm back at the lake.

    Repeated impeller failures, help

I havent pulled the impeller yet this time but the first time it was missing vanes, etc and the second time the housing was worn so it was replaced along with the impeller again. Can you see the intake tube with boat on water? Not sure where to look Boat is fresh water only with 500 hours on it.

    Repeated impeller failures, help

We have had 3 impeller failures over the last few seasons. This seemed to start after we had the gimbal ring replaced. We did the impeller twice with new housings and after maybe an hour of use it started overheating again and acting as if the impeller is out again. We hooked up a clear tube...

Mooring question, outdrive up or down?

We have A 2000 cobalt 206 boat that we keep on Lake Tahoe moored to a buoy. Wondering whether it is better to leave the outdrive up in the trailer position or all the way down while it is moored for the summer. Looking around the marinas here it seems to be mixed with some boats leaving it up...

Question about batteries for my new boat

i bought a 2000 Cobalt last month and winterized it a couple weeks ago. It has 2 new interstate deep cycle batteries that I pulled out and put in the garage for the winter. Should I put them on a battery tender for the winter or just let them sit as is? Also, the boat has a perko switch and the...

How hard would it be to get this hull looking new?

I am looking at a 2001 Cobalt 206, about 450 hours on the 350 mag, duoprop, interior in great shape, but the gelcoat is pretty faded. Its dark blue and doesnt have the "shine" I would expect. Here is a picture. How difficult would it be to get this looking new again?

Chaparral 190ssi - Are the newer (last 10 yrs) lower in quality?

i was looking at 2006 190ssi, which is listed at 20', with a dry weight of only 2900. This is as low as some bayliners, reinell, etc. i had always heard Chaparral was a high quality boat, but dry weight points otherwise. Are these Chaps worth the extra premium over a "lesser" brand for a...

Does an extended patform count towards overall lenght in spec listings?

I am comparing lots of boats, but cant really tell if those with extended platforms include it in the specs. I am looking at a 2002 Sea Ray select 200 with a factory built in platform, and a 2001 SeaRay select 210 without the extended platform. Is the 200 going to significantly smaller inside...

Glastron vs Larson vs Four Winns vs Sea Ray vs Reinell vs Monterey vs Chaparral

I am in the market for my first power boat and have looked at a couple this far that were 18', but just seemed to small for what I need. I am now looking at the 20-22' range bowrider. The brands above are the most common in my area, st least in my price range. My question is how do these...

First boat - Get a starter boat or a larger one that I can grow into?

I am have been looking around for my first power boat the last few weeks. I have seen a few but none that I was overly impressed with. I have a general question about the size/type of boat I should go for. I am questioning whether to get a smaller 18-19ft bowrider with a V6 or to get a...

I am looking to purchase my first boat in the next few weeks/months. I have had a 26ft sailboat with an outboard the last 15 yrs, but never a power boat or anything that needs true winterizing. We want something that the family can use a little easier to get around the lake and do more...
