A couple of times it sounded as though it was going to stall while running, had someone squeeze the ball & it would be fine again while running.     Lost Compression - Mercury 115 - Inline 6

    I have a Mercury 115hp - Inline 6. Just found out that the #1 cylinder has lost compression -tests at 20lbs - the other 5 cylinders average about 120lbs. Shop is telling me to either rebuild or change power heads. Any other suggestions? Will it damage the motor to continue using it as is...

    I tried to save a few bucks and messed it up. Replaced the water pump on my Mercury 1150, put the lower unit back on. Test on land, pump worked! Put the boat in the water, started the boat and it began to move forward...Neutral is now Forward. Removed the lower unit again, adjusted the position...
