Two questions abotu my Johnson 225 (I'm trying to eliminate a misfire):
One, is there a way to test my flywheel to see if the magnets are working? They all look good (inner and outer magnets).
2nd, will a 1998 style flywheel work on a 1997 engine? They have different timing marks on the hub...
I have a 1997 225 horsepower "Ocean Runner" that has a misfire (every 10 seconds or so the engine will "jump" like it hit a log or the ignition stopped working for a second).
So I'm trying to figure out what the problem is... we already replaced the power pack. I plan to replace the coils...
This seems like it should be a no-brainer... which way does this valve go? It has a "to head" arrow on it, but it doesn't mount on the head, it mounts to the block. It's #18 on this diagram:

I searched but didn't find much about the 225. I am trying to replace the gasket under the engine block (it leaks water). I have the nuts/bolts off in this area on the sides and front and back... does anything else hold the power head on? My engine is a 1997 model if it matters.
I'll keep...
My engine is running like.... well, not good. Anyone know where I can buy a new or used Power Pack from? Sorry for the dumb question, I am new to boating. I have a 1997 225 Johnson "Ocean Runner".
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a complete newbie.
I think I messed up. I have an OMC King Cobra sterndrive and I removed the left side plug that is hidden beneath the round "King Cobra" sticker on the lower unit. The sticker was missing so I didn't realize the plug wasn't supposed to...
