    Hello Motor Boater Bill, I am working on this same project and am stuck at this point. How did you figure out that the motor won't accept the stator? I got the flywheel with the huge magnet inside, got the right stator but my mechanic says it just doesnt' work and he can't find any reference...

    Hey, I've got s similar issue. I have a 1976 Merc 200/20hp that I've been converting to key start. My mechanic said that the stator I have doesn't charge. My shop tells me.the same thing, o need stator 74367A9.... But it always looks different in the diagram. Mine has only two small coils...
