My engine overheated at high rpms and it has been running a bit funny lately (it doesn't want to idle very well). Last night it melted some tape touching the engine block. Luckily I ran out of gas when I did (or maybe that was the cause of the overheat? Fuel starvation). How fast would an over...
I accidentally arched the positive and negative leads from the ignition switch. Now I have no power to the engine. Power tilt trim doesn't work and no reaction when the key is turned. It is a 88 Evinrude 150. What has happened?
The engine runs fine in all conditions, but I just want to make sure the timing is right so I will get the best economy. It is a gas guzzler right now. I have a timing light and have done car engines before. Is there anything special I should know? What is the degree above or below TDC and I...
I just baught my boat and replaced the VRO pump because I want to have the oil mixed in the VRO rather than mixing it myself. I know they have made advances in the VRO design. Anyway, I need a Oil Resevoir or holding tank, but I can't seem to find one anywhere. Any suggestions?
I'm getting around 1.8 kmi a gallon. Is this normal or is there something I can do to improve this. I'll be sanding and painting the bottom soon, but I'd imagine that it won't make that much difference. any thoughts?
I reconnected the fuel pump wires and it still doesn't like starting, but when you get it started it runs great, but has a top end of 27kph. Does that mean that the fuel pump is bad? Why would it run when the fuel pump is disconnected? Any thoughts much appreciated.

Mike
I just was examining my engine (150 evinrude '88) and saw that the fuel pump power was disconnected (actually the power lines were cut). Why would the engine run when the power was not connected and would this affect my starting and power/efficency?

Mike
I just bought a 22ft '70 aquasport with a 150 evinrude. The engine runs great and responds well to throttle (max speed is only 27kph however) when you can get it started. She hates idling in gear and the weirdest thing is she will start in the driveway (with a little coaxing, but then will...
