I have a 55 short shaft 1980 and wonder if it is possible to replace the powerhead with a 70 long shaft?
It seams to be impossble to find a 70 short shaft atleast in Sweden, I have only seen a Stinger short shaft on sale but sadly I missed it:(

I have now replaced the oil two times this summer, both times the oil was white due to water and a little of metal on the magnet on the drain plug.
I guess its time to renovate the lower unit, but how to open it fromn the rear, should it be unscrewed using a special tool or what?

I have installed a temp meter(OMC original) on out Johnson 55 1980 short rigg.
At low speed it goes all they way to top reading(red) once speeding above 20 knots, the temp stays in the midle.
Could that be bad impeller just?

If changing the idle orifici should it be bigger or smaller in order to make it run less lean?
Now I have simply removed the idle orifici on one cylinder in order to bring the RPM down for the gearbox safety so it runs very fat...

A spring fell of and now I don't know where it should be, it is for a 1980 Johnson 55 and I think it should bring back the choke when the throttle is open.
