It seems that the Starter/and starter bracket is in the way of removing the carburetor. The space between the Starter and the Carb is to small to get a socket or wrench on the carb nut for removal.
And it looks like a pain in the ars to remove...

On the stand and in the tank.
I can squart a little fuel in the carb and she fires right up...Until fuel runs out.
Carb does not seem to be getting any fuel. I squeez the Blub and it gets tight and stays tight.

Top cylinder reads 145lbs and bottom cylinder reads 125lbs
So what is your-alls opinion on the compression? Would it be wise to put money into this little old guy or not?

Unit has power, sounds alright when I push the tab buttons. Fluid level is correct. They just do not move. any help would be awesome!

Here is another picture...I am not seeing a sea water pump. It looks like to me there is no fresh water/sea water getting to the engine? Does the fresh water from the oudrive impeller pump the water to the engine?

To funny...yes mercruiser 305 5.0 litre engine......1984 SR Cuddy fisherman....I just want to understand how the cooling system works. Here are some pics of the engine. This is my first inboard.....Thanks.

Does any one have a diagram of the cooling system? I am told I have a heat exchanger.
Would like to know how it works and flows ect...

I want to order a fuel line and tank...Are all the connections standerd or did they change over the years...And if so will there be a part number somewhere? I looked at the store here and I did not see and part numbers.

Still have not found the Engine Ser#
I got her fired up...seems to run smooth...However, lots of black smoke coming out the tail pipe/propeller? Could it be from sitting a few...
only clicks...I go straight to the starter and she turns over fine...So is it easy to say that it needs a solenoid? I have checked and cleaned post to starter solenid both sides and Neg ground any other conections I should check?

Just picked up this outboard and it came with a OMC Key throttle control..(not sure what it is called) Anyway, there are no wires for hooking up to the/a Batt. or to the motor itself. The only cables are the forward and reverse, gas throttle and a electric plug...
