    1987 Evinrude 70HP Lost top end

    Hi, I have a 70HP evinrude.. just rebuilt with wiesco pistons, bored .30 over, new bearings etc etc... I was out today, and after about 1hr of running, I lost my top end.. it started cutting out.. then totally gone. The most rpm I could get is 4100... usually goes to 5500rpm with a 21pitch prop...

    Planing down my head

    I have a 1987 70 hp Evinrude, I have been souping her up a bit - New forged pistons, boyesen power reeds - bigger carb jets etc.. I was thinking of getting the head planed down to increase the compression - anybody know how much I can safely shave off?
