    Mercury V6 200 Cough & sputter

    Hi,my engine runs fine at full trottle for 10 minutes and it start to cough and sputtre and I reduce to 3000rpm still it occur. I cannot trottle up again as the engine would dies.Pls help.Its a Mercury V6 200HP 1985.

    engine can only go 4000rpm

    Hi, I've got Mercury 200HP model V6 1985. Bought it secondhand, replace most of the electrical system (90%). Engine runs fine but up to 4000rpm. Help

    Engine dies as I put to gear

    I bought secondhand Mercury 200HP(1985) S/N A148279. The engine dies as I put it into gear.<br /> No problem went when gear is free. Local tech says its the switchbox cos that seem the<br />problem for mercury when left out for few months. Pls advise :confused:
