Took the boat out today and my battery went dead, so that must mean it's not charging when I am underway... where do I start looking for a problem at???
How do I test to see if it's even outputing any charge?
I just replaced my pully cable steering with a rack and pinion steering. I took it out and it's backwards, left is right right is left.
I think I know what it is. Do I just flip the rack gear on the shaft 180*?
I want to change the oil but is there any gear oil that you can get at like Walmart that is just as good as EVINRUDE Name bran gear lube? Like soemn valvolie 90 weight stuff at the auto parts store??

I just bought a 1993 Evinrude 40hp motor. I know someone that has a set of 1999 controls and was wondering if they are compatible.
If not do you guys know where I can get a set that will work? It has electric tilt/trim as well.
One more question is can you manualy adjust the tilt if there is...
On what I should look for when I buy this? It's been sitting for about a year in a garage on a pallet. What do I look for? Im going to get it running and stuff, just need to know what to look for. When I get it back I would change gear oil ect.. But I never have had a motor this size so...
Ok I give up LOL How do you remove the throttle grip section off the tiller handle??? It appears that the Helix portion is broken and I need to replace it. But I cant find how you take that portion apart.. Help :)
