When trimming the motor, the trim piston makes contact with a block on the swivel bracket.
Under power, the piston is slipping up and over that block essentially making the trim position ineffective.
We?ve tried tightening the trim cylinder housing, but it is still doing it.
We recently...
Below are the pictures of the leak.
We're going to start going throught the procedure to remove the lower unit and check everything.
Anyone have any comments on what to watch for or anything relative to getting it fixed?
(note: we just changed the fluid a few weeks ago, can't imagine that had...
When NOT in gear we can get about 5000 RPM out of the motor.
Under load we can only get about 3000 RPM and that equates to about 1/2 to 3/4 normal speed.
In addition, this morning when we lifted the motor to horizontal (to test run the motor in a tub) some oil leaked out of the starboard water...
Our battery was dead on Memorial Day. Can?t figure out what caused the battery to drain, we had been running the motor night before after doing some maintenance.
We tried to Jump it with the Car Battery, but it didn?t work (it had worked on another occasion, but this time the burst you get...

I have a wire that broke off right at the boot.
anyone have any suggestions for a temp repair until I can get a new coil assembly
Thanks

The trailering Bracket for my 1987 Force 125 is missing.
Anyone see any reason why I couldn?t just use a piece of steel rod with pins in either end instead of the standard bracket that comes with it?
Or maybe a better idea for a home made replacement?
or even where I could get a "inexpensive"...
We just finished an engine rebuild and the Motor is Running Great! We took it out several times for a total of about 6 to 8 hours so far.
Then, last night, it decided it didn't want to go in reverse any more.
I?m thinking I need to check the linkage, the controls for adjustment, and the lube...
I am looking to set my timing @ 28 degrees (cranking with wot)
but I am a little confused about the timing light itself
do i set the dial to 28 or 0 (zero)
Thanks

I've been doing some testing and tuning with the motor on the stand.
My knowledge of the electrical system is still somewhat basic.
To start the motor I've been jumping the starter relay from the power to the yellow wire (which I'm assuming is the ignition wire).
That works great!
But to...
I wanted to tell you a story that might give you a good chuckle.
How far should you go when working on carburetors?
Well, that is a tough one to answer; but after doing some research I feel like the general consensus is to only mess with them as little as needed. Hands down Frank Acampora put...
Here's a minor mystery that someone may be able to clarify:
Is there an O-ring for the bearing cage assembly on a '87 Force 125 "B' model?
There is no reference to it in the Clymer or Seloc manuals, and I don't see it in the Crankshaft and Piston Parts diagram on Crowley Marine's site.
Both...
We have a 1987 Force 125 that we are just finishing rebuilding.
The one part that I haven't been able to find is the filter screens for the fuel recirculation puddle drains. As far as I can tell, no one offers a direct replacement or a substitute.
I've been looking at alternative sources such...
I need to replace the shock mounts on my motor, especially the lower mount.
I have yet to find anyone who carries them (or an equivalent)
If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.
Here are the part numbers I identified:
803714T (qty 1), F438962 (qty 2), and F85965 (qty 2)
Thanks

I can't seem to find a definative answer whether the plug wires can be replaced on a force 125 prestolite ignition system.
if they can, what parts do i need and how do you do it?
Or, is there something else that is MORE likely causing weak spark.
Thanks
M

So my brother and I finished rebuilding the Head, we had to reset the head cover as well because of a leak around one of the plug holes (what a time consuming PIA)
Now our compression is 120 across the board! and we took it out to the lake over the weekend and it runs awesome. No...
