    I’m not doubting Racerone’s answer and I appreciate the replies. Now I know that I have a great parts motor for my E88TSLEDR. I’m still curious where that model # comes from though.

    It’s the same cowling as on my 1996 88 SPL. 1 latch on front and 2 on rear. What makes you think 1990? It’s a 90 hp as shown in the model # but the the SA are the letters that should be the year code. That’s not possible because there’s no A in INTRODUCES.

    Can someone please help me find the year for this engine. I’ve never seen model, newer than 1980 they did not use the INTRODUCES coding. The model # of this engine is: VJ90TLASB. The Serial # is R 08616095. The Welch plug has # R8616095. Thank you. Thank you!
