    E225TXCUB

I ran across a E225TXCUB that has just over 500 hours on it and has been in storage for the last 14 years. Been very well taken care of when it was used and current compression numbers are 120 on 5 cylinders and 125 on the 6th. Starts right up on muffs. No option to put it in the water and...

1985 2.6 liter OMC SeaDrive options

Ya, she's toast..... no saving this one. Corrosions a mofo. #5 wasn't very far behind either, looked bad (if my numbering is correct). Didn't pull port head but I'm sure it looks the same. I bought the boat for the solid boat it is and almost new trailer. Was a steel ! Planned on hanging...

1985 2.6 liter OMC SeaDrive options

It seems a newly developed issue has appeared along with electrical issues with this 1985 2.6 liter OMC SeaDrive, hyd steering, x-long. Got a dead cylinder 0, 90, 94, 90, 89, 90. And it appears there were past issues with #1 as the spark plug is sleeved ! Working on junk is not what I really...

HELP.... Can't decipher this Model or Serial number

Ah ya.... That's one expensive stator !!! I'm running mix. Had this thing running about perfect until I got in a little rough seas. I believe a little water got under the cowling due to spray coming from underneath and everything got a little wet under there. She cut out completely, bit of...

HELP.... Can't decipher this Model or Serial number

For the life of me I can not find anything that can tell me exactly what I have here. Verified by the hull serial number, its on an 88 Wellcraft V20 Step Lift (ocean boat) outboard on a bracket and it shows no signs of ever being repowered so I can assume its ~88, and you know what they say...

    Mech. Timing Advance

What the heck is every one doing to replace the mechanical advance springs in their distributors on older motors ? Or am I the only one that missed out on buying special springs that last forever ? Going crazy trying to find a couple springs for this 1971 888 with an Autolite distributor...

    Hull Structure

Re: Hull Structure Pics..... Hull vibration and sound deadening is a moot point in my eyes when the whole hull was originally filled with foam ! I figure I will replace it with strips of plywood instead of individual blocks and glue them to the hull then glass over them with one layer...

    Hull Structure

While gutting my Reinell, along the entire bottom between the stringers and all along the reverse "V"s running bow to stern as the hull steps up to the sides..... there are 2 x 2 wood blocks 1/2" thick on a mesh (like designer ceramic tile) laid down and glassed over. The grain of the wood is...

    888 Thermostat Housing

Being that my intake manifold w/thermo housing is gone on a bad motor (888 setup)...... and I have nothing to compare the replacement OMC 302 motor I have to, I have to ask..... is the thermostat housing on this OMC 302 going to work on the 888 or do I have to source a Merc one ?

    Outdrive ID Confirmation/Education

Pulled and took my 888 out drive apart as I have to replace the water pump and motor. From what I gather in my research, my lower unit seems to be an Alpha 1 (first gen) as it has no pre-load pin on the drive shaft and the cavitation plate is square. And my upper is an MC-1. Am I correct in...

    Engine Swap

Hello all..... picked up a 71 boat with an Mercruiser 888 out drive. The 302 engine is missing only the heads and intake. Everything else is present. I also just picked up a good running COMPLETE OMC 302 engine. What do I have to swap from the Merc to the OMC to get it on the water again ?
