In a word, yes.
You can try a good orbital buffer with a cutting compound first. I tried that route but needed to wet sand my whole boat and then machine buff. Lots of work but it turned a pink boat bright red!
So would all of the hulls make a similar ski wake? In other words crummy. I understand that by design they aren't good for serious skiing with a deep v and the engine in the back. But the other day I was looking at a Bryant 188 and it looked super flat in the center of the hull, much different...

Just wondering how the previous thread on this topic was closed today. ???
If there are still pertinent replies being made to the topics they should be left open.

I'm here with this new (to me) prop and the boat is a couple of hours away so that's why I ask.
On my 2007 Mercruiser Alpha I will this prop install as is? Couple of washers and a nut? It just looks like there's so much depth on either side of the hub, but without the boat here now I'm just...
Is there a known "best spark plug" for the 3 litre Mercruiser?
Is the NGK-BPR6EFS, box 3623 the standard? Any known issues or advantages with the Iridium UR6IX IX, box 7348?
The 20 amp fuse near the battery has blown out three times in the last two days. It happens when I move the throttle back into neutral quickly. I've searched and read about purple wires, accessories, and the shift interupt circuit.
One thing I'm wondering about is our kind of old battery. Could...
I had one from Fleet Farm for about five years but it's finally given up. Now I see they only sell the full size battery which is over kill for a small electric motor in our 14' boat.
Any ideas?
Hi guys,
We've got a 2007 GT185 with low hours and a near mint interior. However, the exterior has taken a bit of a beating.
1. The rub rail has a chunk out of it on the starboard side. Unfortunately, it's part of the black strip and the white above it. Is this anything a somewhat mechanical...
2007 3.0 TKS
Anyone here have to mess with it?
Our 3.0 runs okay but when you pull it quickly back to neutral the rpm's drop momentarily to <300. It's very brief and then right back up to idle. It doesn't quite kill but you think it's going to every time. Does every one else's do this?
The...
1992 115.
Just wondering. I'm gonna help someone replace the throttle cable and I don't see an obvious way to disassemble this or just remove the cable end.
Thanks.
It comes right back.
I sold our Larson runabout, 115 Merc today and was very happy. But then only an hour later it was back in my driveway. Crap!
The new owners (family friends) put the boat in a local lake and didn't get anywhere. The throttle cable is broke. Wow! How do you like that timing?!
I'm working on a 2007 Glastron with a Mercruiser TKS 3.0. I can use it but I can't believe it's running correctly the way the idle varies and the difficulty of starting. It's a new boat to us last fall, but with the late spring we've just had a few hours to play with it. Fyi, it runs super on...
It leaks around the plastic piece, not through the actual plug. I bought the boat and it had a bunch of regular silicone around it. So can I replace the whole thing and fix this correctly? Is this how they came from the factory?
I believe it's a 1961 Alumacraft.
