Replaced and rebuilt the whole upper unit. Then ran in the driveway for about 30 mins with the muffs no problems. Pulled the boat home and had to change the oil so while I was running on muffs I noticed it was overheating.

The leak is when looking at the engine on the boat its on the right side of the motor (the side with the carb.) It seems to be leaking from the gasket. Since water flows through this I am guessing its the exaust manifold . Am I wrong? Please dont make fun of me this is why I am here looking for...
SO I saw many threads on how the MARINE starter is the only starter you can put in on the motor.
I go to autozone and napa and find out the motor is a 2.5 but the starter is a heavy duty found on most V8 engines.
I found the exact replacement for my starter online also for 149$...

So I got my sterndrive rebuilt and tested. I want to know when I put it on the engine a few things.
The engine looks new, gas has been empty as well as oil and otherfluids.
Of course I put the gas and oil in is there any other stuff I should do before I kick it over for the first time...
