just purchased a 1988 18' edson with a 4.3 L omc cobra, the boat runs great. but after I put it in forward and start moving there is a clunk. not sure what it is. and I also have trouble trying to get it into neutral.
I have noticed a rattling sound from coming from the bottom of the motor after a couple runs since I first put the boat in the water this summer.
The first time I heard it was at full speed. Docked it checked things out could not find anything loose.
Took it out again a few times and heard it...
Started the engine fine in the morning. Went fishing (trolling) most of day. Drove back to dock at full speed. Everything was fine untill I tried to starting it again after sitting for about 20min then the fly wheel siezed.
Pryed the fly wheel past the "hard" spot and tried starting it again...
This is the second year I have owned this boat. The first year the engine ran great. Took it out of storage and tried starting it with trouble. Finally got it going after getting proper prime with bulb. But engine was very hot.. (smoking at top of engine).
Took it out for a couple runs...
