Started out as a good day on the water. 4.3 mercruiser

wea Is the ignition module the black box next to the distributor? Do you have a link for a replacement Delco Est incase I run into issues with that module failing?

Thanks everyone, I will keep everything intact as of right now. I will still order the 3 wire trigger, cap, rotor to keep on the boat as they are easy enough to change on the water if needed. I was hoping to go out again this weekend but the weather is not looking to great.

Started out as a good day on the water. 4.3 mercruiser

Installed the new coil tonight and the boat fired up instantly. Didn’t have to pump the throttle or anything. With the boat in neutral I gave it a couple revs and there was no hesitation or anything. Revved smoothly. Now my mind is wondering do I leave well enough alone? Or do I...

I’m almost thinking of just upgrading it if there’s a better option just to have a piece of mind on the water.

Thanks that’s what I’ll do. I did smell fuel while trying to crank it on the lake, like it was flooding out, which is a possibility due to lack of spark. Since I’m an over thinker and really want to limit any issues on the water, besides no spark/start could this cause other symptoms such as...

Started out as a good day on the water. 4.3 mercruiser

I’m not sure I can hook up a scanner to this engine. It’s carbureted if that makes a difference. I changed the fuel filter yesterday before going out. After poking around some and having someone to help me crank it over and check for spark I rechecked the spark at the spark plug wire and I...

4.3 mercruiser, was going along just fine and all of a sudden it started spitting and sputtering brought it back to an idle and it died. Got towed back to the launch got the boat home was able to get it running again gave it a rev not being in gear and it sputtered and I shut it off. Haven’t...

    Help with axle replacement

After doing some more research it seems like my hub face measurement is 92 inches and center of springs would be 76in. I can’t seem to find anything in this size readily available online. I can find 93in hub face but spring perches would have to be welded not a big deal. Any suggestions?

    Help with axle replacement

Looking to figure out which axle I need to buy for a replacement. I am trying to make this trailer as worry free as possible. I was going to do bearings, seals, etc. but signs of rust the brakes no longer work and are gutted. I want to just replace it with a standard 3500# axle. These are the...

    Family of 5, 19ft or 21ft?

I tried to upload a picture of the boat today it says “too large” not sure how to shrink it down. It has the typical seating arrangement with the back2back seats and in the rear it has th dog house with seats on either side which can be moved up flush with the top of the dog house for I guess a...

    Family of 5, 19ft or 21ft?

We ended up going with the Rinker 192 Looked at a Stingray in between. The Rinker ended up being local, original owner, friend of a friend. Interior is actually in decent shape, no rips in the seats, I couldn’t find a soft spot in the floor. Needs to be cleaned up from winter storage, only...

    Family of 5, 19ft or 21ft?

I went and looked at a Glastron with a VEC hull today and what a disappointment. The entire hull was cracked and patched with who knows what. Got inside the boat and the floor was spongy in front of the engine compartment. I was there for probably 10 minutes max. I still plan on going to look...
