G'day legends
I picked up a really well looked after 2006 25hp mecuary sea pro motor it's only ever been used as a trolling motor on a bigger boat so done next to no work
When I picked it up he had already had it started and was running great so I slaped it on my boat for a camping fishing trip...
Unfortunately iv looked over the entire motor and that is the only number I can find anywhere on it iv found videos on YouTube that look the same that say 1966 but I'm not sure if it's that old the market place add said it was a 89 but I don't think it's that new eaither so match parts is gonna...
So if there is no manafacture plates on the motor due to someone has painted the motor and never put it back on
Is there any other way to get a make and model of a older jhonson
The old mercs could use the serial stamp on freeze plugs if it was still original
For some reason I don't have permission to upload photos even tho iv uploaded photos in the past

Got another mystery motor with no manafacture plates was wondering if anyone could help me identify make and model
Found a serial number on the freeze plug but google isn't being helpful at all
Freeze plug stamp number is 008206
It's a old jhonson super sea horse best guess would...
G'day legends
Hoping for some help got a old 15hp mercury I'm trying to determine the year and model the serial number is completely gone off the sticker all I have is the serial stamp on the freeze plug but can't seem to find any reference I'm hoping someone with more experience can tell me...
Well smacked the hell outta my knuckles and that hurt alot less than the knowledge of what just happened
I was only upto 80inch pounds of torque when it snaped so not even done upto requirements yet
Got a question about the core plugs are the designed to be a weak point incase there's a pressure build up issue such as a blockage somewhere water can't get out so the core plug gives way instead?
I only ask as I was looking at my spare head with the striped sparkplug hole and someone went to...
I checked the other head and it had a thermostat in it was pretty grubby so I threw it in to soak with the carbie im currently cleaning up if it's still stuffed I'll order a new one there cheap enough was just curious why there was no thermostat in there
Probably should of checked that when I...
Thought I'd check the thermostat well im at it and there isn't 1 in there is it common for ppl to remove them cose it works better with out 1 on these motors?
Or should I definitely get 1
@racerone for the win
Core plug has completely **** its self glad I bit the bullet and ordered 1 the same time as the gasket just need to wait till Tuesday when they arrive now
Yeah iv seen a vidio on how to get it flat and good again but is there a easy way to do the block side with out getting shavings in the pistons with out pulling the head apart
Can I just stuff a sock or something in there?
