    Modify a Brand New Motor?

Ok, this one's for the brave. Evinrude sells a brand new 15 inch 40hp with a tiller. They also sell a 20 inch 40hp with remote steer. What they don't sell is a 15 inch, 40hp, with remote steer. So... what's the best way to make one? And GO.....

1960 Lark II Wiring Harness question

Does anybody use the original 7 pin wiring harness and switch to start and run their outboard? I can find throttle and shift "controls" all day, but finding a key switch and box with the original 7 pin wiring connection that goes to the outboard is proving impossible. I know I could just...

1959 Evinrude Lark 35 HP Blown Condensers?!?

As the topic stated, my 59 evinrude lark, just blew both condensers. Intro... motor has been a work in progress, with little to no power most of the time. After replacing coils, condensers, points, wires, plugs, and apparently a cruddy job rebuilding my carb and fuel pump, I was able to get it...

59 evinrude lark 35hp, slipping out of gear

ok... if you've read my past postings about this motor, I've since taken it out a few more times, got it idling nicely, starting the first pull, etc, doing great.. but all the sudden it started rattling. newbie transom question...

I know I need to rework/replace my transom. I don't look forward to it, but I will feel much better when it's done properly. I've been reading post after post about the process, and feel I can accomplish it with LOTS of work. So.. here's my question. Being that I'm using a motor that I...

How To: Backing up a boat trailer.

Ok.. I've seen this SO many times, it almost makes me sick. Some guy (or gal), nice new truck, beautiful new boat, fly's up to the boat ramp, unhooks the tie downs (or not... depending on the dummy), and then starts to back up. Oh my GOODNESS here's where it gets funny, and sometimes downright...

    cable/cord steering

Ok.. I really like the cable steering I've seen on several "new" boats. But... the only boat I ever drove as a kid, had a cable, wrapped around the part of the steering wheel just under the dash, which went to two pulleys right on the starboard side right by the dash, then to the stern, to...

    1959 Evinrude 35hp Lark

Thanks to all who have helped me so far in attempting to get this old motor running, and now, in identifying exactly what it is that I do have. I was lead to photos by a member, Steve Ott, who also e-mailed me a proper electrical diagram. Letting me know that mine is NOT wired as per specs...
