So when you pull the handle away from the gunnel, you can't move the level forward to add power? If that's the case there is something wrong with your throttle controller I think. Mine is very similar to yours and that is how it operates.
IT WORKS!
New Sierra starter showed up today and it fired right up.
Moral of the story - it just MIGHT actually be the starter and don't buy cheap Chinese starters from Amazon.
Thank you all again.
I do not have the bottom bracket so the bent shaft seems to make sense. Shoot I didn't even realize their was a bottom bracket till I looked on some other site and saw a picture of it.
Anyway new starter gets here today so will update when I get it installed.
UPDATE- Choke is fixed. I had a bad ground which I found underneath the console. Put a bus bar in for the + and - which cleaned up my wiring a decent amount.
Starter still crap, but I figured out why. The electrical post that the + cable mounts to is super loose internally. It's obviously...
I'm sorry I didn't recall that getting suggested to me earlier; I've tried to follow every suggestion in this thread and post the results.
I'm grateful for the assistance and not trying to be "one of those guys"
Like I said, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the actual assembly...
You talking about the mechanics of the choke itself?
No, because when I run 12v to it directly from the solenoid it functions just fine, so it appears to be an electrical issue not a mechanical one.
Hello all. Gonna attempt to post everything and not miss anything.
Choke solenoids getting about 6 volts, not 12.
The ignition post (yellow wire) on the solenoid is getting a little over 10 volts when I hit the key to start.
Everything else I tested (solenoid +, relays, red wire @ terminal...
OK here's the verdict on the choke.
When I hook the red to the choke power and ground the black, i get about 6 volts at the choke when I push the key in. When I put the red on the body of the choke and ground the black, I get .3-.4 volts when I push the key in. From what you guys are telling...
Well I didn't get the volt meter out there in time, lost to darkness LOL. Couldn't track down my kid who was walking the dog when I first went out there....my arms aren't long enough to engage the choke and also hold the voltmeter LOL.
Anyway in looking at my spaghetti mess under my console I...
I bought the starter on Amazon, so you could have a point there. Although both starters were/are doing the same thing....I can pull apart the old one and see what my options are. I did lube the shafts on both starters with 3 in 1 oil as well and worked it through the system.
Are you saying...
