    Seized Lower Shift Cable Nut

This thing got out my rounded seized cable nut and more recently 2 rounded flywheel bolts. I didn't think it had a chance in either case TOPEC 5-Piece Spiral Type Deep... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083FSBFQ6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Mercruiser 4.3 alpha 1 gen 2 alignment questions

IMO the witness marks are a distance second in importance to how easily the tool slides in. If the tool doesn't bind neither will the drive.

What brand starter should I get?

I've also had good luck with db. I've had this one for 5 years. Got submerged in brine and is now on year 3? after I took it apart and cleaned it ...

    Part number for exhaust shutters?

Hmmm. Interesting. Looks like I'm using the right part. It just *barely* doesn't fit.

    Part number for exhaust shutters?

When I put the engine in 5 years ago (it was an '89 4.3L, no s/n available) I couldn't find the right exhaust shutters. P/N comes up as 807166A3. I got a few different sets, none of them fit right. Ended up modifying the outer ring (they were too big). Worked OK, but now that the engine's out...

5.7 Merc Alpha One Gen one violently shakes entire boat?!

Only reason I say swap drives would be for testing. I've seen reports of couplers suspected of taking a set and causing a wobble. Without the drive on would expect that to go away. If you swap drives and it persists you're looking at an engine/coupler/gimbel/alignment problem instead of a drive...

5.7 Merc Alpha One Gen one violently shakes entire boat?!

I think this is typical on a chevy I/O. Is the problem only in gear? Does it happen with the drives off? Have you tried swapping the drives to see if the problem follows the drive? Does the steering position make a difference?

    Stupid me, no oil

Well... Looks like I have a wet transom. The day I've been dreading. Drilled a couple of holes low down, closeish to cut out and drain plug. It dried up as I got a couple of inches higher. Also doesn't look like it goes all the way through; the rear seemed dry. But definitely there. Guessing...

The actuator needs a rebuild or can I buy a new one?

    Stupid me, no oil

Starter is fairly new, though rusty. PMGR. I don't remember if it was new or I disassembled it after the dunk. The actuator...yeah, I was trying to ignore the small leak. I'm already way behind the 8 ball for getting splashed. I'll check it out and see if I can figure out where it's leaking, but...

    Stupid me, no oil

Yeah, that's usually my go to for threaded sections. This one it looks like it seized in 2 places: The outer bushing to the flywheel housing, and the inner bushing to the bolt. I think grease would be the better choice here, but to paraphrase you, anything would be better than nothing.

    Stupid me, no oil

Ok, had planned on pulling the engine in the fall, but personal crap got in the way. Still haven't had a bunch of time, but managed to get the engine out yesterday. Everything going fine until I ran into the starboard rear mount, which was completely seized. Took me a few hours to get out...

Some interesting options here: https://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/publications/print-agents.html#coast-pilot I don't see a free way to do it easily though. EDIT:You can go to the custom chart creator and make your own to export as a pdf. Actually pretty cool...
