I have a few spots on my hull were it looks like someone used rubbing compound to remove something. The result is a dull area with swirl marks were you can see they rubbed. Anything I can do to revitalize it?
So I somehow misread the instructions and thought I was supposed to fill my Volvo SX through the dip stick hole. I figured it out after putting a liter into it. Will this oil just flow down to where it is supposed to go, or do I need to do anything to fix my mistake?
I reassembled my 98 Volvo 3.0, hooked it up to muffes, and turned over the engine. I was anticipating I would need to tinker with it to get it to run, but to my surprise it fired up the very first time. I immediately noticed it was "idling" around 2800 rpms and killed it. I looked down the...
I was literally doing the final things before I tried to start the engine after doing all of this work to it, when I placed the insert between the engine mount and the block, I immediately noticed something wasn’t correct. The engine is aproximately 3/8” lower than where the bolts from the...
I was ready today to reconnect the hoses and fuel line and see if my 98 3.0l engine will crank. I had to pull off the vent line to get the fuel line to fit underneath the thermostat housing (it is zip-tied to the fuel line). When I pulled the vent line off the fuel pump, I noticed it was clogged...
With my remote starter hooked-up to the starter/solenoid directly, and the key in the ignition switch is turned ton, will the engine crank? Or, does the actual turning of the key enable the plugs and everything to fire? I’d like to be able to crank the engine while hovering over the engine bay...
On my Volvo 3.0, I am putting a new intake/exhaust manifold and gasket on. The service manual waffles on if gasket sealer should be used. I just had the head redone by a machine shop, and the manifold is new, so there surfaces should be flat. What should I do?
Hey guys,
I’m rebuilding the Holley 2300 that is on my Volvo 3.0. I have a few questions.
1. The instructions say to “turn the idle limiter caps to its leanest position and remove the cap. Observe and record the initial position of the needle slot. Turn the needs until lightly seated, record...
As many of you know, I had issues with the 98 Volvo 3.0 I acquired. It had an exhaust leak and was seeing signs of a little water in the oil. Troubleshooting showed a blown head gasket and a cracked manifold. A leak down test showed air escaping out of the valves. A compression test showed...
Is this something you do just because “it has been a while,” or is there a test or symptoms that can be used as a determinator?
Also, a related question, the tune-up kit looks like it only contains the cap and rotor. Is that correct? I have searched and can not find just points.
I want to do a compression test to see if the cylinder head job fixed my compression issue. If I am going to to have to remove the cylinder head, if the compression is not there, I would prefer to not waste time with installing the rest of the head. So, do I have to reinstall the push rods, set...
I had the cylinder heads off a GM 4cyl iron block marine engine worked by a machine shop. I am now ready to install it. I have a Fel-Pro head gasket and have cleaned the top of the block really well. What else do I need to do to properly reinstall the head?
Should I do any cleaning of the bolt...
I am preparing for all scenarios. Do you know anyone that sells remanufactured GM 3l short blocks? I am picking up my redone head Thursday. I am trying to get an idea of how fair the machine shop prices are if I get them to rebuild the motor. Or, I may go with a remanufactured short block from...
