You have no idea.... I'm glad I ordered from marineengine.com the first part that failed $400 I was given a refund which helped pay for the updated unit and coil which was $600. All and all I spent about $1000 no pun intended. But my ignition system is now 100% new on the engine. Key and harness...

F*** YEAH!!!!!!! The part definitely looks more modern and I was sceptical after a little wiring and quick prayer. I cranked it up and as soon as it had fuel it started and purred like a kitten. I am so happy if the nice weather hold up I'm going to spend the day at the lake with my grandson...

For anyone still following I have ordered the new amplifier, this time it's a more modern aftermarket part vs the original. This one comes with a different ignition coil as well. I have my fingers crossed. I have also ordered new points as well. I figured why not it will complete the new...

My understanding is that these old parts could run forever unless they were underpowered overpowered or not powered at all. I have a battery charger from the 70s that works better than anything you can buy today. Too bad your radio can't start my boat lol

That makes sense, it was AI which gave me that info. I don't necessarily trust AI I had to correct it a bunch of times. It was kinda frustrating. I was so sad when it dies again. That new amplifier fired it right off and it sounded great then it didn't.... I just hope that the aftermarket part...

Lol that's crazy! No piston lmao. All signs point to the amplifier. So now it's more of a waiting game it can take up to 8 weeks for them to process the return. It was the last of an obsolete part on their shelf. AI says the electrolytic diodes they used can go bad if they sit unpowered to long...

Yes I have, they are both new, but I did double check everything multiple times. I get the trigger signal as I should from the points to the amplifier, after testing the amplifier again I do not have the output voltage to the coil like I should, I removed and cleaned all grounds, checked for...

I didn't get anything on ac I had it on the wrong setting earlier when I was testing. I don't mind spending the $30 for the adapter. I will definitely check out that link tomorrow, I have to dig out my laptop haven't used it in a while. Thank you

I have to admit that I have asked AI some questions, according to it the type of diodes are electrolytic or something like that and apparently they're known to degrade over time just sitting even unused, so it does make sense that it could go bad instantly according to a Google is told of course...

And no I thought it did but I just looked it up and it doesn't have it built in, I used it while I was a mechanic. I will get one. I did get a high reading when I checked the first time after installation. Or maybe it was in my head. I don't know. But before I return anything I will get that...

The amplifier I bought does have a warranty so I will hopefully get that money back to purchase a newer aftermarket one The one I bought was the last one on the shelf of an obsolete part probably made in the '70s
