My 1974 175 OMC with Tru-Course steering has what seems like a flat spot or kink in the cable. Steering is effortless through most of the range but requires a fair bit of effort to get past a certain spot and back again.
Any ideas or suggestions?
So I see that Starcraft boats are very popular and there seems to be quite a following. I'm wondering why?
I'm in the market for a affordable used aluminum boat and I was wondering what makes the Starcraft boats so desirable?
Took the boat out this past weekend for the second time this year. After allowing the motor to warm up I gave it some throttle to get up on plane and bang, crash, bang, she shuts down. Oh oh, I go to start the motor and clunk no go. We decide to drop the kicker and go fishing anyways. So later...
I have a 17' Campion with a 175hp OMC. The prop that is on the boat is a 14 x 18 with my spare prop being a 14 x 17. I'd like to be able to slow the boat down for trolling and with the currrent prop I can only slow down to just under 4 mph. How much slower would I be able to go with the 14 x 17...
I have a Hummingbird fish finder with a through hull transducer mounted under the motor on a 17.5' 1976 Campion. At slow trolling speeds it seems to work just fine but at moderate speeds or especially when slowing down it the screen is littered with fish symbols. At cruising speed it seems to...
I'm getting ready to start tearing the interior out on my 1976 Campion 17' runabout. I've bought a set of Wise lounge seats and I plan to build a motor box, side panels and jump seats for the back. The reason for this is that I don't like the current configeration of the interior and it's...
1975 175 mercruiser with a 302. At idle the voltage drops to below 11 volts but gets back to 14 volts at higher rpm. Would this be indicative of my voltage regulator failing? How can I tell if the voltage regulator is internal on the alternator or external. I don't even know what one looks like...
I've inherited a 17.5' 1975 Campion with a 175 mercruiser 302 motor. The motor has a Holley 2bbl carb and the points ignition has been replaced with electronic ignition. The boat has hardly been used for the last 5 years so I knew that it would require a little work. Imagine that, a boat that...
Looking for a rebuild kit number and any other info on the carb for my 1975 302ci OMC. The numbers on the carb are: Motorcraft D1JJ-9510-B1 LIST-6317-1 381.
I have issues with getting the motor running. When I pour a little fuel into the carb the motor fires until all the fuel burns off then...
Is there a trick to removing the kill switch on my 1993 6hp Evinrude? I assume it just snaps into place but I don't want just start prying at it to find that there is a better way to removing it.
My fishing buddies' 40 hp Merc appears to have a charging issue. As I'm not all that familiar with marine charging systems I thought I'd leave it up to you folks to diagnose. While running the voltage on the guage shows around 12 volts and drops off the longer the boat runs. With an automotive...
I have an older, late 70's or early 80's, 9.8 Merc that seems to miss when it runs. I've replaced the plugs and the leads off the coils as well as rebuilt the carb. I thought that it might be an ignition problem but I'm not too sure. I also thought perhaps I mixed up the lead wire from the coils...
I own a beautiful little 1992 6hp Evinrude with very little hour on it. It has never failed me yet, until now. The motor still runs perfectly but starting is another issue. If I use starting fluid the motor fires easily and runs flawlessly at idle and throughout the limited powerband but if I...
I have a 1993 6hp Evinrude that I use on my 12' Aluminum. With me alone in the boat I will slowly get up on plane but with my fishing partner in the front I plow water. I dont' expect to plane with the two of us but would a stabilizer or planing fin help to plow less water. With the two of us in...
I have a Cruise N' Carry 2.7 hp model 6700 sitting in my garage. I need a little info on it and hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. Is this motor wortth my time as a side project or are they disposable. I haven't tried firing it up as of yet because I need to replace the...
