    3cyl 50hp to 60hp upgrade?

    I have a 1987 3 cylinder 50 hp Mercury outboard. An old mechanic told me this motor is a detuned 60hp. He said if I changed the carbs, manifold and baffle plate with the 60hp parts, I would then have a 60hp motor. Is this true? Thanks, Bob
