Was working on my mercury outboard today. A problem I didn't have before is that when I insertion the ignition key and push in to chock I get a spark near the chock selonoid. Grounding problem?

Here are my pics...hope it will give an idea to find out the year of my Mercury OB. I looked everywhere for the serial number and the only ones I found so far are the ones listed in my first post.
I have a Mercury Outboard that is 4 cylinder with a Model 4D-3 Magneto Type. The sticker on the engine says it's 65Hp Thunderbolt. I can't be sure if the previous owner put these stickers on because the front plate is blue and shows Mercury 500 but the cowling is a wrap around with red stripes...
