I need advice on how the best method is to change these.I have got them off but dont seem to have room to keep everything together (gaskets,springs,stats,housings)and get them installed.I am trying to do this with powerhead on does it have to come off?
1977 140 HP johnson where are my thermostats located on this motor? I have been unable to find them online either so I can order once I figure out where they are part number and web site would be appreciated. And no I do not have a manual yet.

I have a 1977 140 that has no tale tell just expells water from the two ports in the exaust housing.My question is should the water temperatue be the same coming out of both ports.I have noticed that the water coming out the starboard port is always cooler than the portside water.
I have a 1977 johnson 140 (14077TLS) and a 1990 johnson 115 (VJ115TLASB) I want to put the lower unit off the 115 on the 140 as the 115 has bad piston and 140 a bad lower unit. Can anyone advise if these are compatible.
