I need to replace the steering cable in my Shoal Runner Predator aluminum bass boat. It is 2005 model so I have to replace the whole system. I here a rack works best with a berkeley style pump. I have the required 19+ inches of space between the steering post and the gunnel but only if I can...
I am starting a new thread on this as my original post has already been answered quit well. My problem is with my Buds Suzuki DT25c outboard. I have loostened all 6 bolts and two grown well fed men couldn't wrestle it apart. We can almost see a little air between the upper and lower units if we...
I have a friend that just bought a boat with a Zuki OB. The guy he bought it from started it for him but didn't bother to use the muffs. I helped him change the gearcase oil and we started it up using the muffs but it didn't pee, which I figured would be the case. I have an impellor kit on...
I have two separate electrical systems onboard. One is the 12v system that powers the engine, lights, and accessories. The other is a 24v system for the trolling motor. The 24v system is two batteries hooked in series. I would imagine that connecting the negetive side of the 24v series to the...
I told a friend I would replace the water pump in his gen. 1 alpha. I see that there are differences between the pre-load pin and non-preload Gen. 1's. His is an '87 with original outdrive. Is there any way to tell which one he has other than taking it apart? I don't have room in the drive for...
I am running through transom exhaust. Do I really need to run an exhaust bellows? I have tried searching the threads but there are too many on exhaust bellows to look at them all. I am replacing the u-joint bellows and don't want to make extra work for myself, and I understand that the exhaust...
I figured I can't learn any younger so I am tearin' her down. I had to drill out the retainer to remove it as it was not going to move any other way. Now I can't get the bearing carrier to budge. How much heat should I apply and what should I do to avoid heat distortion?:%
Does anybody have a link to instructions for replacing the trim limit switch on an alpha 1? I traced my inoperative trim up to the wires being cut in the gimbel area. The switch still looks serviceable but I need to pull the limit switch wires outside to get more length. What is securing them...
My brother has a motorized dock (pontoon) with a Classic 50 on the back which moves her a little faster than a stationary dock. The gear case is too short so if you try to trim her at all she starts cavataten'. Did they ever make this motor with a longer gear case as it would be good to swap it...
I just got a used 'High Five' prop which is the older version from what I have learned. I understand the newer ones have a hub kit to adapt it to different outdrives. Mine has a rubber hub and it has no washers. Does anybody know which washers I need to use it on my Alpha 1?
Could anyone tell me the ID of the transom water hose on a Bravo 1? I am going to upgrade from an Alpha 1 and I'm working out the details. I have closed cooling fed by 1 1/4" hose.
My Alpha 1 seems to be holding up well to my 400 SBC repower; however I am contemplating upgrading the drive so I dont have to be so carefull with the throttle. I know that the transom assy. will have to be changed but how about the flywheel housing. Will the Alpha housing work with the Bravo...
I have a closed cooling system with Jabsco replacement for Merc pump. The drain plug is on top with std rotation engine so I made sure the hoses didn't have any water in them. is this sufficient to keep the pump from freezing and cracking?
I noticed that the circlip on one of the trim cylinders had come loose. Since these are the original 1988 ones it might be a good time to rebuild them. I have already replaced the pump. Should I wait till they start leaking or will I be ahead of the game by rebuilding them now?
