The neutral safety switch in my Mercury side-mount remote control (looks like MERC 881170A 1) is giving me troubles.
Symptom is that its sporadically acting like it's in F/R when in N, probably 1 out of 5 starts. I can "fix" the problem by moving the shifter (in, then out of gear) or hitting...
Hi Folks!

I plan to install an aftermarket water temperature sender on my 1990 Merc 60hp (temp isn't standard on this motor). I need to know:

1. Where the "block plug" is that I'm supposed to remove to install the sender (not obvious from looking at the motor; seems like...
Hi Folks!

I'm getting 44 mph on my homebuilt Rascal (see link below) using a new 10R17 (Michigan Wheel) on a '90 Merc 60hp, WOT 5500 rpm. I'm pretty happy with this performance, except for the fact that the designer pushed the prototype (in 1989) to 52 mph with essentially the same...

When I trim it up it sags back down over a period of minutes. This doesn't seem normal! Does it need to be bled, or is there some other problem?

The motor was rebuilt this spring, before I bought it...
What is the correct PART NUMBER for a trim sender for a 1990 Mercury 60hp ELPT? As noted elsewhere in this forum, the trim sender is an after-market part, even with the power trim...

Thanks!
Hi!

Doing an installation on a new boat; trying to complete the trim sender wiring.

I'm trying to reconcile the wiring diagram(s) in my Seloc manual with what I *see* in the motor. I found the trim control wires no problem (they are bundled together and ended near where I...
