    I have a 97 Johnson 50 horse and I just installed a tach, is wot 5500 rpms, and is this what I should try to run the outboard on all the times, or is this like the redline on a car, when it is ok to run less rpms, but 5500 is the max I should run? Thanks

    Before I start working on my 1997 50 horsepower Johnson Spl, does anyone know what the SPL stands for, I think it means special, but what is the difference between a 50 and a 50 spl? thanks

    cutting out

    I have a 97 50 horse Johnson, and it was running perfectly until yesterday when while running at full throttle, the motor slowed down to about half, then would surge sometimes running back to full then back to half or less, it kept running, would idle roughly, and started back easily, I pumped...

    propeller shaft

    I am having my propeller repaired, and would like to know if the shaft should be greased before the propeller is placed back on, and when I took the prop nut off, It was just snug, Is that how tight it should be? thanks
