I have a couple of the 1954-1955-1956 Johnson starters (25 hp) One appears to be 6 volt (its bigger)
and the other is slightly smaller. Can someone tell me if there is a new made starter that will mate up to the
aluminum starter bracket ? Sierra does not seem to show one...….
Thanks----

I have an original Orlando clipper trailer. Was looking at the axles and hubs. It has small 4 stud hubs. The axles are
1.5 inch SOLID square steel with the spindles turned on the ends so it is all 1 piece. The spindles -- where the hub
bearings slide on is completely straight and 1 inch in...
There is a company called "skytec" that makes lightweight aircraft starters. They weigh about 1/3 of a regular one.
They have a smaller motor which runs faster and has a gear reduction on the end.
Is there anything like that for outboards ? My old autolite starter must weigh 30 lbs...….

can some one tell me the part number for the starter motor on a 55 model Johnson 25 hp RDE-17 ?
I have the parts catalog for the rd-17...… but that doesn't have a starter :-)
My ancient huge starter quit suddenly---- in case I cant repair it--- I can search for a modern sub.'
I think I should...
I have a 1959 Evinrude 35 horse. I think it was a brand new engine when something happened that it got some sand in the cylinders. Great shape except for that. Pistons stuck presantly in bores. have the powerhead off. Also head off.
Cant turn crank because pistons stuck. Tried bumping piston...
Is anyone making the little square rubber grommet that goes in the face plate around the chole control ?
How about the rubber shock absorbers that go on the stems that support the cowl on the inside ?
And the runner edging around the face plate ?
Is there a catalog of just rubber parts for...
I think I got my carb kit in..... but I noticed they only gave me 1 packing squishy thing for the needle packing---
and what they did give me was way too big. So I got creative and tried using some fuel injection O-Rings.
(1/4 by 3/8 by 1/16) They may seal OK but I wont be able to tighten...
Ok-- (RDE-17 johnson-- 25 horse seahorse 1955 ? )
I pulled the carb tonight and split it. Fairly simple looking. Not really dirty but old gaskets kind of hard.
It has a little blass bown with a fuel strainer element in the bowl. It is a little cylinder shaped thing.
It looks to hard to be...
I was just reading the post from Ameyers about carb/throttle linkage. I was about to ask the same question.
I am very usure what the linkage is supposed to look like on my motor. I think the previous owner was playing musical
chairs with this motor and a 30 horse 1956---- it LOOKS like I am...
My 1956 orlando cliper needs a new windscreen. I have the old one but its crazed pretty bad.
My thought was to make a mold for it and drape hot 1/4 inch acrylic over it. It doesnt seem to have any
compound curves -- so I should be able to just lay it over the mold.
i was thinking of taking...
Noticed that one of the 3 little holes in my flywheel might be questionable. (the 3 you use the puller on - and holds the ratchet)
would it be OK to install helicoils in those holes ? It looks like it would be easy. I cant think of any reason why not-- I just want to ask before I strike...
tried a first start of a rde-17 Johnson. new ign. water hose on reverse outlet- and in plastic barrel.
Used syringe to shoot a bit of fuel past throttle plate. Pulled rope-- blam-blam-pfft git a few kicks.
Then I tried the same thing again with starter. on about the 3-rd go with the...
Do restorers normally replace this filter/packing inside the intake muffler ?
Is it an air filter or does it work like a spark arrestor for backfires ?
It looks like fiberglass but It couldnt be---
What do we do with it ?

I noticed when installing my 2 ign. coils--- I have the shoved inward to the max and there is still a slight interference on the flywheel. Got to looking at the outboard shoe sections on one of the and I notice that the registration of the laminated layers is slewed a little bit out at the...
