I have a 77 Johnson 140 to that is going to need the engine bored and rebuilt. I don't want to spend the money to buy a new engine and had already spent a lot on the rest of the engine.
Can I buy a reman 78 140 and put the intake on it from the 77 to be able to hook up to the exhaust housing...

The motor will only start if I disconnect the fuel line to the engine feed for pump. It will run just fine. Do you think the float is out of adjustment? I have it adjusted to parallel with the gasket surface of the carburetor. Do you think I should adjust it so that it leans...

1977 Johnson 140TL.
Just got the boat. Was running it in a bucket when the starter wire came loose and grounded out on the block. Have no spark now at all and not sure where to start or what probably fried. Any help would be great.
