I have two Evinrude outboards. One is a 1990 115, the other a 1995 88. My question is are the both Loopers or Crossflow or one of each? If one of each which is which?
Hi All
It’s been a while since I’ve been on this forum and over the years I’ve gotten some great advice. My previous boats have all been Outboards so this is my first I\O.
I just picked up a 1982 Grady White Chesapeake 212 with an OMC 140 hp I\O. It’s been sitting since 1996 and the engine...
I?m particularly interested in the lower unit (See my previous post titled Clack Clack Clack Clack Bang; What Just Happened. The 90 lower unit has milky oil (signs of water). The 140 is black and shows no signs of water. Can I just change one for the other?
I don?t know
Can you get it started again
I?ll try??..No its locked up
Oh look there?s water coming from under the hood
That?s not good
Any One Need Spare Parts from an 82 Evinrude 140
It looks like I have blown another Regulator / Rectifier and at $120 I can?t afford a replacement right now. Can I run for the holiday weekend with it disconnected or will I damage to the Stater? I figure I?ll have to charge the battery each night, is there any thing else I'll have to do.
How can I tell if my engine has the Fast Start feature and how can I disable it if it does? I need to do Joe Reeves Timing Without Test Wheel.
Thanks

While trouble shooting my over heating problem I found that the engine wouldn?t run over 3000 RPM. So I did as much of the Link & Sync process as I could (not having a test prop I couldn?t properly set the timing). I now have full throttle at 5500 RPM but at idle she bucks and sneezes like the...
It seems I have an overheating problem. I started my motor on the hose and after about 5 minutes I noticed there wasn?t any water coming from the tell tail so I shut her down and pulled the lower unit to replaced the water pump. While I had the lower unit off I wanted to confirm I didn?t have...
I have a 1988 Evinrude 90 VRO with the VRO disabled. My Tach doesnt work. My manual says Check for 11 volts at the gray wire coming out of the Regulator / Rectifier at 1000 RPM. I cant tell exactly how fast the engine is turning but it sounds like its faster than 1000 RPM and I get 0...
I started my engine the other day and looked at the tach to see how fast it was turning. I noticed the tach wasnt working so I did what any good mechanic would do I taped it with my finger and the needle brakes off. So off to my favorite shopping mall EBay and sure enough I find an assortment...
Ok here goes I got this old boat (bought it from a friend pretty cheep). The trailer looks good needs roller cradles (Im converting to bunks any way). The boat turns out to be a 1963 Wellcraft Runabout (needs lots of work; looks like it was used as a work boat for a number of years). Ok on...
I finally found the Welch plug berried under a mouse nest and ided my motor. Its a 1988 Evinrude 90 hp. I have a question of curiosity. Is this engine a lopper or a crossfire or anything like that?
This is kind of a continuation of my last post Tilt & Trim Release but the subject has changed to Motor ID. The outside ID plate is missing; the cover says Evinrude 90 and VRO. Anyone have a clue where the ID Plug on the block should be? Im trying to ID it so I can order a manual for it.
I picked up an old Wellcraft with an Evinrude 90 on it. I need to identify the year of the motor (looks to me to be between late 70s and mid 80s) but I cant get the cover off because the tilt & trim are in the up position and the outside SN plate is missing. Is their a manual release for the...
