isnt this a volvo penta engine?
if the pump is putting out too much pressure, fuel will flow out of the top vent. and flood the the engine. it will not make the engine run at high idle. put a gauge on it.
that being said, if the pump is the original EFI pump, yeah, you need one for a carb.
if...
get a flashlight down in the transom area by the starter/exhaust pipe and see if the cable is all twisted up. if it is straight into the transom, pull the cable as straight as you can, so that means not wrapped around the y pipe and behind the steering actuator, pull it out towards the seating...
then you have a short circuit. disconnect the blue wire from the back of the oil pressure gauge, if it still pinned, replace the gauge
wait, it is pinned high with key on, engine off and key off?
then pins low with engine running?
was the alarm still ringing when you have the engine running or...
not saying your wrong but i would hope that a company that speciallizes in building and selling marine carburetors would know which parts to install in said carburetor. however i have seen worse errors
unplug the single wire by the oil filter, does the gauge stop reading high?
if so, you have a switch for a light, not gauge, those sensors work as on/off, like the alarm sensor. whereas the gauge one is a potentiometer.
this carb was available on this engine in the 80's & 90's so i do not think its too much carb for the engine. yes it runs great around the lake but at WOT is where there is an issue
technically there are 3 oil switches, one for the alarm, one for the gauge and one for the fuel pump. #'s 7,11 & 13
7 & 11 are on the side of the block by the oil filter and 13 is on top by the distributor.
hey i got a question i want to through out to see if there is anything i need to look at. i converted a 1991 4.3, pre vortec, pre balance shaft, engine to a 4 barrel carb, it runs great until you get it opened up. it hesitates and stumbles.
is the timing different with a 4 barrel compared to 2...
question, when you install the prop shaft seals, do you typically grease the seal? i am thinking that the grease i put on the lips and inside the groove of the seal(were the spring rides) is causing the shaft to not get a good seal. and also , when i pul the vacuum, should i be rotating the...
